Kings Canyon walk

Kings Canyon

Located within Watarrka National Park approximately half way between Alice Springs and Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kings Canyon offers one of Australia’s best one day walks.  An overnight stay here is recommended if you plan on the hike as most of the year it needs to be started first thing in the morning to avoid the extreme heat of midday.  Most of the walk is on level ground or downhill but in the first half mile you’ll climb over 300 feet with no shade whatsoever.  Pack lots of water and a bathing suit as there is a swimming hole halfway in.
