DAINTREE

The only place in the world where two World Heritage-listed sites exist side by side – Daintree National Park and The Great Barrier Reef. As well as being the world’s oldest tropical rainforest, the Daintree is home to the earth’s largest range of animals and plants. You will find a third of Australia’s frog, marsupial and reptile species and almost two-thirds of its bat and butterfly species here. Experience them at their most vibrant during spring, when temperatures are pleasant and the wet season storms have yet to start. Hear migratory birds join the dawn chorus, swim at calm beaches and see orchids bloom on the forest edge. Visit on a day trip, or stay in an eco lodge nestled in the rainforest along the river.
