Heron Island Resort is a true coral cay, located right on the Great Barrier Reef. The island is ribboned by sugar white sands, crystal clear waters and acres of brilliant coral with beautifully colored marine life making it a real nature lover’s paradise. Heron offers many activities such as guided island and reef walks, semi-submersible cruises and beach picnics. An amazing array of animal and bird life can also be discovered throughout the year. And of course Heron is world famous for its scuba diving and snorkelling. Heron Island Resort is a haven of marine color and relaxation, with magical ocean views from many of the rooms. The resort also offers an array of activity options for those who like to relax, explore and laze on beaches far from crowds, with no reef “day-trippers” to spoil the peace and quiet.
Complimentary activities include: Guided reef walks (operate daily subject to tides), island ecology walks, guided birdlife walks, wildlife presentations, snorkelling lessons in the swimming pool, nature slide show presentations, trivia night, and a marine documentary.
Other activities which require an additional charge include: Snorkelling excursions, scuba diving and night dives, dive courses, Sunset wine & cheese cruises, Aqua Soul Spa, turtle viewing, pool tables and stargazing.
The resort is also home to two choices in dining: fine dining at Shearwater Restaurant or the more casual Pandanus Lounge & Baillie’s Bar, which is open late and also offers a dance floor and entertainment lounge.

To help guests leave the outside world behind, televisions and telephones, while available on the island, are not found in guest rooms (telephones are available in Point Suites, Wistari Suites and the Beach House).
Turtle Room
In a garden setting, a short walk away from the beach. With two rooms per block, all Turtle Rooms are at ground level and feature a deck and outdoor area. Rooms are compact and interiors are bright and fresh. Family room configurations are available.
Reef Rooms
Close to the beach and offering reef and water views, interiors are light and comfortable with a living-area extending to an outdoor balcony or garden. Family room configurations are available.
Beachside Suites
Set in a prime beachside location with spectacular views. Double glass sliding doors fill the room with natural light and connect both the spacious bedroom and separate living area with a large outdoor balcony. The living area features two beds, and Mini-bar.
Point Suites
Positioned with uninterrupted views of the reef and magical sunsets. Point Suites include a large en-suite and separate dressing room, a generous living area extending to an outdoor terrace with sun lounges and access to the lawn and resort gardens. Air-conditioned mini- bar, a CD player, and canapés.
Wistari Suites
Enjoy a secluded garden setting with ocean views, spacious living area and a separate sleeping area and outdoor terrace. Air-conditioned, mini-bar CD player, and canapes.
The Beach House
Located beachside and set within a grove of trees, the Beach House offers filtered ocean views and a private boardwalk to the beach. With only one Beach House on offer, it couldn’t be any more exclusive. It offers maximum privacy and is just a short stroll away from the central resort facilities and restaurant. The Beach House is air-conditioned, features a separate bedroom and spacious en-suite. The expansive living area opens onto a private patio with outdoor furniture and shower. Mini-bar, CD player, and canapés.
