KANGAROO ISLAND
South Australia’s Kangaroo Island is full of wildlife and beautiful scenery. It is easily accessible from Adelaide via air or Jervis Bay via car ferry. The native animals on the island include koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, sea lions, penguins, pelicans and other diverse bird life and reptiles. The island also offers a variety of terrain including the rugged rock formations of The Remarkable Rocks, underground caves, white sand beaches and gorgeous bays. In addition, Kangaroo Island has beautiful national parks such as Flinders Chase and Willoughby Wildlife Conservation Park.
Please note that in January 2020 fires burned most of the west end of the island including Flinders Chase National Park as well as Southern Ocean Lodge, Hanson Bay Cabins and Sanctuary, and Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat which were all completely consumed. All will be rebuilt in time and with the coming winter rains the bush will begin it’s regeneration. The east end was unaffected.
