Launceston

Located In Tasmania’s north lies Launceston, home to a thriving cultural scene with art galleries and a bustling seaport featuring amazing restaurants and shopping. The wilderness of nearby Cataract Gorge offers an abundance of wildlife and numerous walking/hiking trails. The Tamar Valley wine region is just outside of the city and is known for its cool climate varietals of Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir as well as extensive lavender plantations.

Launceston is also the nearest commercial airport to Cradle Mountain so this is often the first or last stop in Tasmania.
