Wilderness Lodge Arthur’s Pass

Discover wild nature in this spectacular mountain setting and experience life on a 5,930 acre nature reserve and high country merino sheep station. Walk from your room into a natural paradise of beech forest, tussock clearings, moss-lined streams and lakes. On arrival you will be given a copy of the current activities program, maps and information on walk network, forest and tussock nature trails. Forget your car for a couple of days and settle in and explore. The naturalist guides will help you learn about high country life and explore nature in this special place the first Maori visitors called “Te Ko Awa a Aniwaniwa – Valley of the Mother of the Rainbows.” You can also explore further afield in Arthur’s Pass National Park, Craigieburn Forest Park and Torlesse Conservation Park. Join a canoe trip in safe, stable canoes on lovely Lake Pearson or Lake Sarah to look for Crested Grebe, Scaup, Paradise Ducks and other wetland birds.

Snow-capped mountains provide a magnificent backdrop to superb food, wine and hospitality in the Mt Rolleston Restaurant. The chefs take pride in celebrating New Zealand ingredients and specialise in carefully prepared fresh local food. The wine list features a wide range of top quality New Zealand red and white wines along with a handful of great Australian reds.

Accommodation includes dinner, breakfast & two shorter guided activities daily. Longer guided activities are available for an additional fee.
