New Zealand’s version of Edinburgh, Dunedin is the country’s city of the south and proudly shows its Scottish heritage. The city’s surroundings are dramatic, with beautiful hills and a pretty harbor. Dunedin is one of the best examples of Victorian and Edwardian architecture in the Southern Hemisphere. Make sure not to miss a drive to the Otago Peninsula where there are endless views and beautiful, rugged beaches. The Royal Albatross Center is located at the foot of the Taiaroa Head and you can view Northern Royal Albatrosses in their natural habitat. The Otago Peninsula also offers incredible wildlife experiences, including one of the world’s most rare penguin colonies.
