The Southern Lakes region is New Zealand’s most important tourism center. Queenstown is Adrenaline Central with AJ Hackett’s original bungy and the Shotover River Jet. The city also boasts gorgeous views of the Remarkables Mountains and Lake Wakatipu. Nearby Lake Wanaka is just as pretty, but without the crowds, and in between is New Zealand’s premiere wine region called Central Otago; famous for its spectacular Pinot Noir.
Just to the south is Fiordland which is home to Te Anau, gateway to New Zealand’s most iconic attractions of Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. No trip to New Zealand is complete without a stay in this area.
