Doubtful Sound
Located only a few of hours from Te Anau and Queenstown, Doubtful Sound is near Milford Sound, but is as much as three times longer and ten times larger than Milford. The area is just as beautiful and offers an abundance of wildlife, flora and fauna.
Doubtful Sound is not as easily accessible as Milford Sound – it is best accessed by sea or on the the Queenstown-Te Anau-Manapouri road and a short boat trip.
Known for its silence only broken by the sound of birds or waterfalls, Doubtful Sound is unspoiled and spectacular. The fiord cliffs have hundreds of waterfalls during the rainy season, some of the larger falls drop over 2000 feet. It is truly an amazing experience
Some options for enjoying the wonder of the Doubtful Sound include overnight or daytime cruises and sea kayaking.
