Queenstown

On the shore of beautiful Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown perches among dramatic alpine ranges.

With a wide variety of outdoor activities, Queenstown is the home of the ultimate adventure bucket list. In the winter there’s skiing. Other year round activities include bungy jumping, sky diving, canyon swinging, jet boating, horse trekking, rafting and cycling. In fact, it has become known as a renowned cycling destination, with everything from easy scenic tracks, backcountry trails, road rides, heli-biking and the Southern Hemisphere’s only gondola accessed downhill mountain biking.

If your aren’t an adrenaline junkie, there are plenty of other options available. Experience one of the many walking and hiking trails, take a sightseeing tour or indulge yourself with spa treatments at a world class resort. You can also go boutique shopping and enjoy excellent food and wine here.

Use Queenstown as a base to explore nearby historic Arrowtown, Central Otago, Glenorchy, and Mt. Aspiring National Park. Sitting on the Arrow River, Arrowtown is a well preserved gold mining town with a lot of character and outdoor activities such as fishing and panning for gold. Beautiful Central Otago is a premiere wine region of New Zealand known for its excellent Pinot Noir.  If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, Mt. Aspiring National Park, the setting for many of Middle Earth’s scenes, is within close proximity.  Glenorchy offers access to Lake Wakatipu and the Dart River and some of New Zealand’s best hiking trails.
