Lake MoerakiWilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki
The Wilderness Lodge experience combines high quality accommodation, superb food, gracious hospitality and exciting nature adventures. Experience wild New Zealand in comfort and style.
Few places on earth can match the amazing natural setting of Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki, surrounded by lakes, rivers, rainforest and seacoast in the heart of Te Wahipounamu, the southwest New Zealand World Heritage Area. This is a paradise for nature lovers, active travellers and wilderness seekers or for those wanting a relaxing retreat away from the pressures of the modern world. On arrival you will be given a copy of the current activities program, maps and information. Forget your car for a couple of days and settle in and explore.
Radiating from the Lodge is a network of rainforest and Tasman seacoast walks. In front of the Lodge there is a fleet of canoes for you to explore the Moeraki river and you can paddle the short distance up the river to the Lake.
The Riverside Restaurant offers views of lawns sculpted to the water’s edge with abundant wildlife and magnificent river and rainforest vistas. Relax, enjoy a drink and savor great West Coast wilderness food – seafood from the coast, game from the forest and delicious fresh fruit and vegetables are their speciality.
Join a team of naturalist guides led by conservation ecologist and Wilderness Lodge founder Dr Gerry McSweeney. Explore a natural paradise, almost unchanged from the time of Polynesian arrival to New Zealand. Things to do include: wildlife adventures, West Coast wilderness beach hikes, rainforest discovery, trout fishing & easy kayaking. A variety of complimentary guided activities are included with accommodation or take a more private tour for an additional fee.
Accommodation rates includes dinner, breakfast & two shorter guided activities daily.
